Coaches Code of Ethics
1. I will always remember "Athletes First and Winning Second" when coaching.
2. I must be able to cope with pressure, adapt to changing situations, keep contests in perspective, exhibit discipline, and maintain my composure holding myself as the highest example for the player.
3. I will show athletes how I want them to behave after having played well or poorly, after having won or lost.
4. I will reward performance, not the outcome.
5. I will view success in terms of athletes exceeding their own goals rather than surpassing the performances of others.
6. I will set team goals that teach learning to play together as a unit (team play first), respecting each other, having fun, and playing with good sportsmanship.
7. I will always exhibit good sportsmanship before, during, and after practices/games towards all players, teams, coaches, referees, parents, and spectators.
8. I will actively use my influence to enhance sportsmanship by players, coaches, parents, and spectators.
9. I will take an active role in the prevention of drug, alcohol, tobacco abuse, and gang participation setting the example by not displaying jewelry, bandanas, or clothing that could in anyway be perceived to be drug, alcohol, tobacco, or gang related.
10. I will always be aware of the tremendous influence I have, either good or bad, in the education of the athlete and will never place the value of winning above the value of instilling the highest desirable ideals of character.
